Feeling Loopy Socks by The Chilly Dog

“This is a unisex sock pattern written in needle neutral terms so that it can be worked on dpns or circular needles.

These colorful socks are worked from the toe up and have an afterthought heel. Both the toe and heel are star shaped.

The color pattern is mosaic, so only one color of yarn is worked at a time and much of the design is made by slipping stitches from the left to right needle.

For best results, these socks are made with 2 skeins of yarn in highly contrasting colorways. When using the recommended Schoppel Zauberball Crazy, 2 skeins is enough to make 2 pairs of M or L socks and 3 pairs of XS or S socks.”

My April 2018 KAL begins April 5th with a beautiful design knit with Concentric by HiKoo®. Named after the concentric circles that this cake of yarn so closely resembles, these color gradients were carefully designed by the Skacel color specialists! Concentric is made from four non-plied strands, which create the distinctive color change.

In Transient, each color change will bring a different stitch pattern in this easy to wear shawl. You will find yourself racing to the next color change to find out what comes next!

“Clementine is a fun, quick to knit, classic pinafore baby dress. Stripes, and a fun pocket insert not only make the garment so cute, they also add interest during knitting. Its seamless construction means you knit and you are done! We chose to knit Clementine in Hikoo’s wonderful CoBaSi fingering yarn. The yarn is a blend of cotton, bamboo and stretchy nylon. This yarn makes the dress light, perfect for summer wear, and just a little stretchy for baby’s comfort. These little dresses are like candy. You cannot stop at just one!

We have prepared Clementine kits in a rainbow of colors. The kits include the yarn and buttons, and are 20% off through May 2018!”

 “Four More Summer Projects”

To-Market-To-Market-Bag-In-Hand_medium2

1. To Market, To Market Bag by PostStitch

“It’s BYOB (Bring Your Own Bag) when you’re headed to the library or Farmer’s Market, so why not show up in a bright MIM (Made It Myself) showstopper? Knit in the round and from the bottom up, this bag is a generous size to fit leafy veggies, an iPad, knitting project, or even a New York Times Best Seller. Toss it into your purse for those times you need a back up bag when you’ve shopped too much, or pop in your luggage and use as a lightweight tote when you don’t want to schlep all of your stuff.”

3. Summer Shower Sock by PostStitch

“Designed for PostStitch’s July 2017 SockStitch subscription, Summer Shower is a warm weather sock inspired by the inconsistent Florida weather. Spend a summer day on the Gulf Coast and you will learn that early morning, clear skies can quickly morph into an afternoon storm. To capture this dichotomy, the back and underside of this sock is knit with stockinette stitch to resemble clear skies, and the lace eyelets that fall down the front of the sock resemble the rain drops so commonly present during a Florida summer.”

“Free The Feet” – 5 Fun Sock Designs

1. Resolutions Sock Trio by The Chilly Dog

This knitting pattern is a little unconventional because it is for a “mismatched” sock trio instead of a matching pair. If you prefer, you could choose your favorite color combo and make two matching socks.

2. Spring Violet Socks by The Chilly Dog

“This knitting pattern will knock your socks off! These short ankle socks incorporate a traditional Scandinavian knitting technique known as twining, to create an unusual texture using two colors of yarn.”

3. Elliott Polka Dot Socks by James Cox

“The color combinations are a nod to classic preppy designs, and the polka dots are surely reminiscent of Brooks Brothers. All of this is incorporated into a sock that will give the sharp dresser a little touch of interest at the ankle and the knitter an interesting project.”

Featured Yarn:

HiKoo® CoBaSi

“Sock Science Too offers 2 styles of sock: Summer Sockies begin with a garter stitch ankle (which can be striped) with striping ideas for the heel and foot; Mock Cable Socks are worked in a solid colour. They have a longer leg with a textured pattern that can also continue down the top of the foot.”

5. Jacque’s Flip Flop Socks by The Chilly Dog

“Socks and sandals? Why not? These cute socks, made especially for my friend, Jacque, were designed to wear with your favorite flip flops.

A twist on traditional yoga socks, this sock pattern includes a Shadow Wrapped, short row heel, and is the same whether worked from the leg down or the toe up.”
