WonderMike (knitter, spinner & producer of the Fiber Beat podcast/vidcast) sat down with me last year to discuss the origins and history of Skacel Knitting as well as the exciting products that are hitting the markets right now. You can hear it all in the latest episode of Fiber Beat No. 4, “Skacel-ebrate“. Be sure to enter the contest for a full bag of Zitron’s Unisono yarn. Details are on the podcast and online at fiberbeat.com. Deadline for entering is January 21st. So enter soon!

And just so you know – Unisono is the newest yarn from Zitron.  It is a 100% superwash Merino with a real nice, tight twist that is enhanced with Jojoba Oil and Aloe Vera.  It runs through your hands like butter and yet, it shows fabulous stitch definition.  The winner will get to choose their color too!

  1. I really enjoyed the interview WonderMike from Fiberbeat.com just put up — it is always great for us “laymen” to get glimpses into the fiber business “business” world. And so nice to know that you all support/handle so many other family run companies.

I’ve been a fan of Addi Turbos for YEARS as I lived in Europe for a long time, so what can I say … they are basically all I use.

BUT, and of course there is always a BUT …. I hope you’ll tell me that there is something in the works to get a set of Addi “Clicks” developed in the “smaller sizes” (all under what Addi is marketing now)

    thanks! Maryjo

  2. Thanks for your input! I am not certain if you are referring to smaller sizes meaning a US 1,2 and 3, or if you are referring to shorter lengths. Good news is, the addi Clicks in the Lace version are in the works and the tips will be shorter than the addi Turbo tips in the current sets. This means that you will be able to knit with a shorter cord, thus a 16″ length will be possible. These sets are due to come out sometime this year. Pretty vague, I know, but we really have no release date at this time. If you are referring to smaller sizes and not lengths, that is a situation that has been addressed, but has not been solved. It is very difficult to create a join that small in diameter, yet still strong. But, do not despair, we know there is a want for these and technology keeps moving forward, so hopefully, sometime in the near future, we will be able to fulfill this wish. In the meantime – we still have the standard addi’s in a US 000, US 00, US 0 , 2.25mm, US 1, 2.75mm, US 2 and US 3. And if you need something longer than the 60″ available, special orders at your LYS can be placed. The price is higher, but if you want a 20 foot needle, you can get it!

    Happy Knitting, Karin
